What should I bring and wear on the day?

This question is asked quite frequently. Here are some of my suggestions about what to wear and bring on the day of the photo shoot.

What not to wear

Avoid bright colours for adults as they can be a distraction.
Avoid clothing that has logos and slogans on it.

What to wear

I generally work with a white background in my studio.  Images with a white background are generally casual and pleasant to look at.

A T-shirt with your favourite blue jeans works well in this type of shot.

Don’t be afraid to dress your toddlers and children in bright colours.  These portraits create their own special energy.  They are vibrant and full of life.Dressing young children in white can be soft and looks very pure. It reflects childhood innocence and makes for a great memory. Dark tops can also work well with a white background, but this is a high contrast and leads to photographs with a very different style.

For the adolescent gents also consider wearing casual pants with an open shirt for a more formal type portrait.

A top that has interesting textures can also add dimension to an image. For group shots ensure that each person compliments the other by creating uniformity.
